Salvation for our Nation

Imagine the
difference in
our country if
our children's
teachers came to
Jesus! This is just
one area that you
might choose to pray
about on Feb 3rd 2010.

Prayer is Powerful!

Jehoshaphat discovered that. Imagine how he and his soldiers would have reacted on finding all their enemies dead without them having to lift a finger.

It was their instinct to turn to God on behalf of their nation that set this trail of events in motion. God desires that we trust in him and turn to him, and he will hear our prayers.

An often-quoted verse from 2 Chronicles shows us what God wants of his people:

"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Our land needs a healing that only God can provide. If you've ever watched the news, or looked around your local community and felt a longing for change, for hope, then on February 3rd 2010 set aside your day to fast and pray for our nation and seek God's face for our land.

Prayer ideas:

Pray the scriptures - choose scriptures that specifically relate to praying for the nations and meditate on them, praying for our nation as the Holy Spirit prompts you.

Write prayer points on post-it notes and leave them around the house. Pray when you see a note. You could pray for our government, business leaders, church leaders and teachers.

Watch the news or read a newspaper - pray through the news stories that stand out to you.

Look around your workplace - pray for each of your colleagues.

Set your phone calendar to give you reminders to pray for things at different times of the day. Text Christian friends to remind them to pray.

Journeying prayer - as you travel around on Feb 3rd, look around. Pray for whatever comes to your attention in your local community.

Organise a prayer meeting at your church, or even organise a 24-hour prayer event with different people taking shifts to pray.
